Dr. Shiromani Jayawardena is a highly experienced meteorologist with over 25 years in weather and climate research. She currently serves as Senior Adviser for Weather and Climate Services at RIMES (Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System), where she focuses on climate resilience, disaster preparedness, and early warning systems across the region. Previously, she held the position of Deputy Director at the Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology, specializing in research and agro-meteorology. Her expertise includes climate scenario analysis, extreme weather prediction, and agricultural meteorology, helping to enhance Sri Lanka’s climate adaptation strategies.

Dr. Shiromani has also conducted international research, including a visiting researcher role at the Center for Australian Weather and Climate Research in Melbourne in 2015. She actively contributes to climate change discussions and policy development, analyzing climate models and forecasting climate risks for Sri Lanka and beyond.
