Dr. Sarah Holmes is a climate scientist with over four years of experience at the intersection of climate science and services, working with international partners to address climate risks and policy challenges. Based in Exeter, England, she currently serves as a Senior Climate Scientist at the Met Office, where she specializes in climate data analysis, technical insights, and strategic collaborations. Her expertise extends to net-zero policy and shipping sector decarbonization, gained through a secondment as an Analyst in International Climate Action at the Climate Change Committee. In this role, she led the shipping sector analysis for the 2023 Progress Report to Parliament and contributed to early work on the 7th Carbon Budget.

Sarah holds a PhD from the University of Exeter, where her research combined biogeochemical models and marine bivalve records to understand environmental variability in UK shelf seas. Her early career included research on stakeholder responses to flooding events in the UK.
